My first trip to the West Bank was to the Alternative Information Center, a joint Palestinian-Israeli human rights organization dedicated to raising awareness about the nature of Israel's military occupation in Palestine. We attended an art exhibit held in honor of Palestinian Prisoner's Day by former political prisoners documenting the conditions in detention and heard their stories about being held for years without charge or trial. This is an all too common experience for thousands of other men, women and children who have been indefinitely imprisoned by the IDF, most of whom are unaware of their charges.
